Sky Ferreira is my 'Obsession'

Bloodshy & Avant's protogé Sky Ferreira is releasing the video for her debut US Single 'Obsession'

Pure Pop: Magnus Carlsson - Feel you

Swedish schlagersinger and former Alcazar member Magnus Carlsson has just released a new music video. It's pure simple catchy pop music at it's core. It doesn't get much more pop than this. The video is quite simple and a bit gay to be honest(not that it's something wrong with that. lol). Magnus is dancing and sining while different strobe-lights and disco flashes and rain poors down on him in a studio.

More BoA!

BoA's record company have decided to treat us to more BoA since her Korean comeback album have been a huge success. So they're re-releasing it and this is a single to promote it called Copy&Paste.
The video focus on BoA and 6 male dancers in different outfits in a futuristic grey/black/white studio. So it's just a simple video with tight dancing. Not loving any of the outfits, but she's stunning enough to look at anyway. And thankfully the song is good. I love the sampled strings, it's really distinctive and just as iconic as the ones in Toxic.

Mohombi ft. Nelly- Miss Me

The video for Mohombi's UK-debut single is now out. Check it out below. It's a lot calmer affair than Bumby Ride, but I like it just as much if not more.
The video is fairly simple -they're in a bar dancing. But I think the choreography is tight. Something freaky happens at 2.40 though. See for yourselves!

Europop: Mattyas feat. Katrina - Secret Love

By mattyas.ro

Here comes a dance track in the same style as Inna and Edward Maya -this time from Greece. It's a bit of a mix of nationalities really. We have Romanian artist Mattyas(it's his track), who sings in English, and then we have Greek artist Katrina to join in singing in Greek. There is also a English version of this floating around were Katrina also sings in English, but I think her verses sounds a lot cooler and sexier in Greek.

Mattyas started a band straight after graduating from music school and have worked with producers like Marius Moga(Morandi), Dave Pryce (Deepside deejays)among others. He then went solo and changed his sound, and this song is the first thing that we get to hear from his new direction.

Swedish Latin/Hip-Hop: Bentan - Rädslans Rike

This is a song from Swedish artist, music producer, DJ, "national language price winner" radio show host Bentan(Martin Bentancourt) that has been playing during the Swedish election. One journalist has called Bentan for the Swedish Manu Chao, and I don't think that's such an inaccurate description. The title of the song means Kingdom of Fear -aimed at the Swedish extremist party.

Spanish music x2

Camila is a successful Mexican soft rock group. The name of the group came from a friend's idea of calling the group that since it means "close to God". Mientes is their biggest hit to date. The song was also part of the soundtrack of Mexican telenovela Corazón Salvaje. As of September 8, 2010, "Mientes" has been nominated for Latin Grammy Award Song of the Year and Record of the Year.
Check out the video to see if you think it deserves the nomination:
Camila - Mientes

I've had this track for awhile, but it's so good so I'm still listening to it. The group is called La Musicalité and have origins in Mallorca. The band decided to move to Madrid to find an outlet for their music. The Musicalité consist of: Jaume Perpiña, vocals and bass, Jaime Bou, drums, Marc Palmer, Oscar Nadal guitar, keyboards. The band compose and arrange all of their songs themselves. Cuatro elementos is a great melodic rock piece sung in Spanish.

Show us your 'Ambitions', Joe McElderry!

Ok, I wasn't supposed to post this since I have huge respect for the original(which was one of my most played songs during fall last year) by Norwegian band Donkeyboy, but X-factor winner Joe McElderry is very talented and his version has grown on me, especially with this very fun and charming music video. I'm sure it will become a massive hit for him in the UK. The video is filmed in beautiful Bulgaria -enjoy!

Fefe Dobson - Stuttering

The Canadian singer-songwriter(co-written 'Round&Round' by Selena Gomez & The Scene for example) Fefe Dobson is releasing another single from her yet again delayed album 'Joy'. The new single is called 'Stuttering' and is a catchy mid-tempoish song with very good vocals from Fefe. The song is about some guy she's dating that's lying(and most likely cheating) on her and can't get any words out when she's confronting him. The song reminds me of some other song/artist, but can't figure out who.
The song is unfortunately nothing compared to her previous single, the incredible "Ghost".

New Tarkan: "Öp"

Tarkan was born 1972 in West Germany, but grew up in Turkey. He's known for using sexual and romantic themes in his songs and videos and har been nicknamed "Prince of Pop" by Turkish media. He's also noted for his live stage performances.
He has released several platinum-selling albums during his career with an estimated 29 million albums and singles sold, and is one of very few Europeans who has managed to span chart success over three continents without singing in English.

His biggest international hit is the song Şımarık, which Holly Valance later covered in an English version called Kiss Kiss. Since 1997 Tarkan also produces music through his company HITT Music.

Öp
is the new track from Tarkan, and here's the just released music video for it. The record is from his latest album, 'Adımı Kalbine Yaz', that was released earlier this summer.

Ace of Base album out today!

I felt obligated to let you all know that Ace of Base's comeback album has been released today, and it's a really fantastic pop album too at that. I also think the new female vocalists bring a new dimension to the group's sound. I've got no idea what the next single's gonna be, but 'Black Sea' is definitely one of my favorite tracks on the album.

Party Friday: Axwell - Nothing but love

If you're planning on going out tonight and have no clue about what to play while getting ready, and you and your friends wanna get in the right mood before hitting the clubs - this is my tip for tonight.

Axwell is one of the most renowned house DJ's in the world and this is his latest record, "Nothing but love"

Livvi Franc

Livvi Franc is an new young(22yo) singer-songwriter that grew up in England with an English mother and a Bajan father. She's said that Nelly Furtado, Alicia Keys and Alanis Morissette is her biggest musical inspirations. Except writing for herself, she's written songs for artists like Jordin Sparks, Cheryl Cole, Marie Digby and Michael Jackson.

She's signed to Jive Records and released her first single 'Now I'm that bitch'(produced last summer. It was a great song that didn't do too well on the charts unfortunately. The amazing record 'Automatik'(produced by RedOne) got a digital release in april last spring(which peaked at a #6 spot at the U.S. Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs).

She's now going at it again with the alright new track called 'Nobody Loves Me"(produced by David Guetta). I think it's the weakest song of the three, so I'm pretty sure she's not gonna sell huge numbers this time around either. I think she deserves it though.

Sexion d'Assaut - Desole

I've always thought that the French produce among the best hip-hop music in the world. This song is nice proof of that, and it's been a hit both in France and Germany for what I know.

Selena Gomez & The Scene - A year without rain

Today it's been poring down heavy rain here all morning. What better song to introduce on the blog then than Selena Gomez & The Scene's latest single "A Year without rain".

In the video Selena is out on a roadtrip in the desert and compares being without her love as being without rain for a year. The song itself is in the same style as we've come to expect from Selena Gomez & The Scene, it's pop with a dance twist in the same style as previous singles "Naturally" and "Round & Round", but this time in the form of an up-tempo ballad.

Update: Go and buy the album - Not a single bad track on it!

Michael Bublé - Hollywood

Michael Bublé's new single 'Hollywood' keeps true to his ratpack style of music. It's sounds a tiny bit modern and tiny bit more up-tempo than most of his songs and you can even distinguish some guitars in there. Bublé is celebrating the golden era of Hollywood in the lyrics. The chorus goes: "So don't go higher for desire. Put it in your head -Hollywood is dead! You can find it in your head." Surprisingly his "gimmick" still works.

Introducing: Matt Cab

I had a hard time finding info on this guy. Matt Cab is a 22 year old guy based in San Francisco. And he's not only a singer, but a songwriter and a producer too. He's a soulfull singer with a soothing voice.

He's got an EP out on iTunes in the US and in Japan called 'Heartbeats' and are currently working on a full length album. He's had a #1 single in Japan with the debut track "The One".
The track "If it's not me" that's climbing on the Japanese iTunes ATM is what grabbed my attention though. It's a very pretty piano based R&B track that is easy on the ears. Check it out below.

If you doubt this guy's talent just check out any of his many covers of popular songs on his myspace page or YouTube-channel.

The Brits

I'm not a particularly huge fan of Cheryl Cole or her (former?) girl group Girls Aloud, but I can't resist a good pop tune. I didn't like this song that much the first 2 times I listened to it, but now with the release of the video it all falls into place. And the video is very stylish and tasteful -gorgeous in other words. The director is the brit Sophie Muller who's worked with artists like Leona Lewis, Beyoncé, Kings of Leon, Duffy, P!nk, Mika Gwen Stefani, Lilly Allen, Garbage amons others before.

Check out Cheryl cole - Promise this below:

Second we have the wonderful girl group The Saturdays with their second single "Higher" from their new album. After a disappointing first single they're back with a great one, the music video is a bit of a outdoor town street snooze fest though I'm afraid. But the song is catchy and fun as most of their singles are.

Rock

I know that this is a pop themed blog and I rarely listen to rock music, but this song is so good and has been on repeat in my playlist this week, so I couldn't pass on sharing it with you guys.

It's the american band "30 seconds to mars" fronted by fellow actor Jared Leto, and he's also the one that has written the song that I'm presenting to you here "Closer to the edge". It's the 3rd single from their album "This is war". Can't really figure out what the lyrics is about, but it's pretty nevertheless.

Austrian Schlager

This is a schlager/pop-fusion from an austrian recording artist called Charlee. It's called 'Boy like me' and is written by Kesha, David Gamson and Alex James. And it's the first single from her debut album 'This is me'.

Ballads x3

The danish pop/schlager group Sukkerchok has got a new lineup and as of such they have released a new single, which is this pretty mid-tempo ballad called 'De 1000 Drømmes Nat'("The night of 1000 dreams"). It's in the same style as Beyoncés 'Halo' and grows with each listen.

The new boyband The Wanted who had a huge hit in the UK with the great 'All Time Low' are back with their second single who is a ballad called Heart Vacancy, its very cute and catchy and is surely gonna put some teenage girl hearts on fire.

The new Swedish pop-sensation Mohombi who had a fairly big hit with 'Bumpy Ride' and is the first artist signed to the Swedish poducer RedOne and Universals joint label, is gonna be introduced to the UK with a ballad which the american R&B singer Nelly is featuring one. It's a really pretty gem that I'm loving more after each listen.

Grégoire - Danse

Grégoire Boissenot is a french singer-songwriter. His debut album "Toi + Moi" that was released last year was sold in more than 750, 000 copies, and therefore also got the top spot of highest album sales in France 2009. Now he's back with a new single called "Danse", and here's the just released music video for it:

New video from Kelly Rowland

Yes, there ain't much more to it I guess. The single has circulated awhile on the net. It's the first single from her new album for the US market called "Rose Colored Glasses". Enjoy folks:

James Blunt is back!

Yep, that's right folks. Listen it below and let me know what you think. No words on when the real video is coming out yet. "Stay the night" is taken of his upcoming album "Some Kind Of Trouble". The single will be released on Oct 25 in the UK.

More K-Pop: BoA - Hurricane Venus

My favorite asian artist who released an amazing English album in the US last year, have gone back and made some music sung in Japanese and Korean. Haven't really liked any of them until this one popped up a few weeks ago. The video is amazingly pretty with different excentric outfits and - as always when it comes to BoA - great dance routines.

Repeat of the day: Kangta - 愛, 頻率(Breaka Shaka)

The former member of widely popular korean group H.O.T., Kangta is making a comeback and releasing a mini-album digitally for the Chinese market -And here's the music video for the first single. The video itself feels a bit like someone followed a step-by-step instruction video for making a K-Pop MV, but the song is great and the video does it's job, so one shouldn't complain I guess.

dancy pop music at it's core: Alexis Jordan - Happiness

Fantastic song produced by the same team behind Rihannas new single, Stargate.
No description needed. New artist, great dance song, Alexis Jordan - Happiness:

Enrique Iglesias feat. Nicole Scherzinger - Heartbeat

On Enrique's last album, there we're really only two English language tracks I liked, "I Like" and his upcoming single "Heartbeat", which is a duet with Pussycat Dolls front-woman Nicole Scherzinger. I really hope this becomes a huge hit.

Here's the just released video for it. Quite simple affair, but very effective and pretty if you ask me with all the light effects.

New Rihanna

I've never been a huge fan of Rihanna. And I probably rank Pon The Replay as the highpoint of her career. But her upcoming single "Only Girl" is annoyingly catchy. It's written by the amazingly talented Norwegian producing duo Stargate.

Young dane with amazing voice

I don't know much about Mads Langer, than that he's young, released his debut in his home country Denmark in March and that I absolutely love this song called "You're not alone". I heard the song for the first time on French Radio the other day, which must means they're aiming for an international career/release for him. And his style has been compared to Coldplay, Saybia, Carpark North, Matthew Good, Tommy Henriksen, Jeff Buckley, Stereophonics, and like a chilledout version of Radiohead and Muse.

Decide for yourselves:
