Max Barskih - Lost in love

It's not everyday Eastern Europe is presenting a super competent popstar to us that also has a great international pop hit to back it up. But now that just happened. Here's Ukraine Max Barskih with his song "Lost in love". Could make it big, right? We'll certainly keep our eyes on him(no pun intended).

The Wanted - Lightning

The wanted knows how we like it. They've released a new single along with a video. And both are great and exactly what we want and expect from them. It's dance/pop with killer hooks and the video is an outdoor rave party gone wild. The song's about sharing a kiss with that special someone you've had your eyes on.

Video Update: Aqua - Playmate to Jesus

Aqua is back for real, as you know. And here's the video for their lead single "Playmate to Jesus" and as with most of their videos it got a very strong concept. The new video, as well as their new songs, are more mature.  This video is very dark. There is something black smokey lurking in an old house. Aqua is investigating and standing around in the building while singing.

The whole video only uses black and different shades of grey except for some green grass in some of the rooms. Lene is styled in very architectural and futuristic clothes with a clear samurai influenced style, with the use of a kimono and a traditional hairdo. With Lene's use of Noritaka Tatehana shoes I'm sure many people now will compare her to Lady Gaga which is ridiculous. The Michael Christensen directed video is beautiful though so be sure to check it out.

HandS - No Romance

HandS is a Norweigan duo who has perfected the "tears on the dancefloor"-song concept with their debut track "No Romance".

HandS - No Romance

Darren Hayes - Black Out The Sun / Bloodstained Heart

Australian singer Darren Hayes' second single from his new album "Secret Codes & Battleships" is called "Black Out The Sun". In the UK and Internationally that is, because in Australia it's "Bloodstained Heart".
"Black Out The Sun" was co-written by Darren Hayes and Swedish writer and producer Carl Falk.

Both songs are sad mid-tempo-ish pop-ballads that are really great so I couldn't just post just one of them. Which one do u prefer?

Lana Del Rey - Video Games

This is quite extraordinary I think. Lana Del Rey is a new artist that feels like a mix between Marina & The Diamonds and Bridget Bardot. She mixes 60's glam, surf and hollywood pop. Watch the great music video for "Video Games" from her double-A single "Video Games/Blue Jeans". It will also be available on 7' vinyl for all you retro-fans.

September - Me & My Microphone

After being released in February in Sweden, September is now unleashing her single "Me & My Microphone" in the UK with this super fresh music video to accompany it.The song is written by a number of writers consisting of September, Thomas Rusiak, Niklas Bergwall, Petter and Daniel Alexander, and produced by Niklas Bergwall. The track has one of the most massive drum beats I've ever heard. It's really a dance track that screams dancefloor!  The lyrics center around September's special relationship with her microphone(!).

In the video September seem to be dealing with some fishy business. She's driving in a black car with tinted windows flanked by two people, they make a deal and receive an aluminum suitcase from some guy and rush into an elevator. As soon as the doors have closed her and her people bust out a major choreography. Watch the video below to find out what's in the suitcase.

Jennifer Lopez - Papi

"Papi" is Jennifer Lopez latest single and many of you might have heard it already since it also was a promotional track for her "Love?" album. The song is not too far off from her major hit On the floor", and this should do nearly as well on the charts. The melody is driven by pounding drums and synths and is a latin and trance flavored  dance-pop song.

The lyrics center around Lopez's love for dancing for her man and was written by Bilal Hajji, Achraf Janussi, Novel Janussi, Jimmy Joker, RedOne and Geraldo Sandell.

The music video is directed by Paul Hunter who also directed the videos for J.Lo's old hits "Love Don't Cost a Thing" and "If You Had My Love". Just like in those videos "Papi" has got a distinctive story that it centers around. J.Lo gets a cookie from this sweet girl who tell J.Lo that her love will come back to her if she eats it. The girl also say that J.Lo only should eat small pieces of the cake - but too late - she's already finished half of it. The next morning J.Lo is chased by random lovers on the street and it soon gets out of control...

Agnes - Don't go breaking my heart

I adore Agnes, after her international success with "Release Me" and her album "Dance Love Pop", she's now returning with new material -finally! It's the lead single from her upcoming 4th album, the track called "Don't go breaking my heart".

On the new single Agnes has left Anders Hanson who co-wrote all the songs on her famous album, and gone and written a song herself with help from Swedish artist(and Agnes boyfriend) Vincent, Liv and Mim Nervo, and Matthias Lidehäll. It's got a fantastic beat, a jolly synthesizer melody, and some strings that builds on the sound from "Release Me", and what is a Swedish pop-song without an infectious chorus? -nothing, and it's nothing short of great.

Enrique Iglesias - I like how it feels (feat. Pitbull)

Enrique is re-releasing his album "Euphoria" with a few new tracks. First out is this track that is called "I like how it feels" where he's joined by Pitbull. It's not one of the usual topics for Enrique in this song -he's not gonna cry, die or sex you up. This song is all about celebrating life and being jolly -and I like it.

The production screams stage anthem, and it's got a lots of bells & whistles to it -yes, real whistles and a football audience as a choir, no real bells though. It's obvious that it's made to be played in on big venues, arenas and stadiums. Pitbull and Iglesias ARE gonna tour america together this fall, so be sure to hear this song if you go and see them. And as per usual as of late with these two gentlemen -behind the production you'll find RedOne.

On other news, another of the new tracks on the re-release will be a collaboration with Jennifer Lopez called "Mouth2Mouth". We're quite excited for a Iglesias/Lopez duet -could be sweet.

Nayer - Suave (Kiss Me) feat. Pitbull & Mohombi

The American singer-songwriter Nayer is giving us an answer to Pitbull's song "Give Me Everything", which she featured on, with her own RedOne-track featuring - you guessed it! - Pitbull!! Swedish-Congolese artist Mohombi is also contributing with vocals on the track.

The song is called "Suave (Kiss Me)", is just as good as Pitbull's song and have a sample from Elvis Crespo's song "Suavemente".

Anjulie - Brand New Bitch

Canadian dance songstress Anjulie has a new video out. It's called "Brand New Bitch" and is the first single from her upcoming sophomore album due for release in 2012. You don't need to tell us much more than a dance diva is having a song with the word bitch in it to have me hooked. YES -sometimes I'm that predictable, so what? ;)

Julian Perretta - If I Ever Feel Better

I liked Julian Perretta before, but after this I love him! Can't stop listening to this. The singer-writer has gone and done a soul/pop-hit -and I can't get enough off it. Check out the video now -it's an order! I would describe it being a mix between Maroon 5's "Moves like Jagger", Robin Thicke and a splash Frankmusik maybe.

Kara - Step

"Step" is the lead single from K-pop band Kara's new album with the same name. The track is a rock-electronica themed song that was written by producer duo Han Jae Ho and Kim Seung Soo(Sweetune).

The girls are so busy in Japan right now and have lots of commitments there so they will only do promotion for this album during 3 weeks. The girls seem determent to blow out the competition though with this smash. It's catchy, straight-forward and playful and got a "tra la la la" that def. will get stuck in your head. The video screams pop! There ain't no hard make-up, edgy/fierce clothes, or artsy or downscaled sets -this is a huge happy fun party that's bursting with color, happy/laughing faces and synchronized dancing. We love this!

Skylar Grey - Invisible

Here you have Skylar Grey's lead single off her upcoming album, "Invinsible". The song is mellow, a bit avant garde and indie-sounding, but yet commercial ballad. The whole album is produced with Alex da Kid, and is set to feature Marilyn Manson.

Maria Mena - Homeless

Norwegian singer-songwriter Maria Mena is giving us the second single, "Homeless" from her 5th album "Viktoria" to be released later this fall. Maria has a the unique ability to make all her songs sound personal, and at the same time make you relate and feel that they're about you. Listen to this wonderful song about the struggles of a relationship.

Maria Mena - Homeless

Mohombi - Maraca

Mohombi has unleashed the first single from his TBA 2nd album, and it sounds.....pretty much like his previous singles. It's catchy, infectious and sounds hard and trancy -the sound that RedOne do, oh so well. The single is out now and was written by Mohombi, RedOne, Geraldo Sandell and Jimmy Thörnfeldt.

Loreen - Sober

Loreen's follow up single to the sublime "My heart is refusing me"(who was in the running to represent Sweden in Eurovision Song Contest) was released yesterday and it's called "Sober". Both singles will be included in Loreen's upcoming yet-to-be-named EP.

It's hard to follow up such a huge hit and amazing first single, and while "Sober" doesn't succeed the previous single, it's still a good track. Or scratch that it's a GREAT track. When the strings starts and then the vocals kick in you think it's a ballad, but don't be fooled. The track soon starts to pick up the  pace and goes into a house beat while Loreen demonstrate her wide vocal range and her emotional unique tone.

Loreen is definitely one of our favorite débutantes of 2011.

Wynter Gordon - Buy my love

Wynter Gordon is back with yet a great single and accompanying video. Our love for Wynter just gets bigger and bigger. On her latest track she's THE material girl. She says that there's more ways to show emotion, buying her love with shopping sprees and trips might not work, but you should at least give it a try. How hardcore ain't that?? The track is more pop and less dance than her previous singles. Which is surprising when no other than Axwell of Swedish House Mafia produced this track. Wynter and Nicole Morier co-wrote the track with Axwell.

The video is a chapter in itself. It's an 80's explosion!! Which I off course can't help but love. From the colorful fat fonts, the grain filter, the dance moves to the Diana Ross-esque hair! The setting fits well with the songs lyrics when it takes place within a second hand store. Director Bec Stupak did a great job.

The single is featured on both Wynter's EP and Album with the shared name of "With the music I die".

Aqua - Playmate to Jesus / Like a robot

Aqua is releasing a double A-side single next week. The first one is called "Playmate to Jesus", which is a catchy indiepop ballad with strings.

Aqua - Playmate to Jesus

The second single is "Like a Robot", which is a modern dance pop gem, with lyrics that reminds of old Aqua in the sense that the lyrics are quite funny. Rene sings "Nothing's good for you", while Lene answers with that she needs a real man and that he "still fuck's me like a robot".

Aqua - Like a robot

It's so nice to hear Lene's voice again, and new great material finally -welcome back Aqua!

Flo Rida - Good feeling

This wasn't anything I was expecting from Flo Rida. His new single "Good Feeling" is produced by Avicii and Dr. Luke, and even samples Etta James old song "Something's got a hold on me". And it's very good indeed. It's house, it's dance, and between the great track, the sample that grabs you, there's Flo Rida's rapping, which works well and sounds like a lot of the music that we get right now where R&B artists raps over dance tracks, but this songs give it another dimension due to the fact that it's so well produced aswell as the Etta James sample.

David Guetta got a new album out

As the title states, French DJ David Guetta has released his new album called "Nothing but the beat", and several tracks from it are climbing various digital charts. To promote this great album, I'm highlighting my 3 favorites from it.

First out we have the current single "Titanium" featuring Australian pop and jazz singer and songwriter Sia. Sia's got a voice with one of the most distinguished tone's in the music industry, and her vocals delivers on this track. It's one of those house songs where the music builds and builds and then fades out in the beginning of the chorus to give space to the vocals, but before each chorus ends the music explodes in euphoria.

"What about the lyrics then?", you say. Well... to be honest the lyrics ain't that important in this kinds of songs, it could've been sung in another language and it would still be as great. But the lyrics actually is good too, Sia sings about that's she's bulletproof and that nothing will hurt her -'cuz she's Titanium, dude!

See my other 2 favorites after the break

Marcus Foster - I was broken

Marcus Foster is a British singer-songwriter who wrote a track for the soundtrack of the first Twilight movie, then sung by teenage heartthrob Rob Pattinson("Let me sign"). Now Marcus Foster is releasing a new song, this time sung by himself, but in the video he's supported by yet another Twilight star -Kristen Stewart. We love this song as much as we loved "Let me sign", they're equally emotional and equally breaks our hearts, this is a really really sad song.

"I Was Broken" is  out 19 September.. The track is taken from his debut album "Nameless Path", released 26 September.

Marcus Foster - I was broken

Kelly Clarkson - Mr. Know it all

Kelly Clarkson is coming back with a bit of a new sound for her. It's still pop/rock, but it's not the same power shouting that she's done with previous hits like "Since you been gone" and "My life would suck without you", but it's still very catchy. I approve and think that this will be a big hit. The song is written by Brian Kennedy, Ester Dean, Brett James, and Dante Jones

Joe Goddard - Gabriel (feat. Valentina)

Joe Goddard is one half of the English electronic indie act, Hot Chip. And when you listen to his solo EP "Gabriel" it's hard to not think of them. The difference here is that the music is a bit darker and got a more house oriented sound, without loosing that special indie-feeling though(much thanks to the vocals performed by Valentina). It's my desire that this will become huge and that the general public will take this unique song to their hearts. If I can have my way I want this heartbreaking song to be be this years "With Everyheartbeat".

To Kill A King - Bloody Shirt

The lads from the UK, I like 'em. Their group, formed in 2009, To Kill A King, I really really like it. And the song, "Bloody Shirt," very much like it.

For now, listen to this. As their new single "We Used to Protest/Gamble" releases, I will post it here.
